Franco American Tour - House PartyWhether it’s at the kitchen table or on the front porch, when it comes to music, Maine and Louisiana share a long standing tradition of making and enjoying music at home. House Party celebrates the gigues, reels and songs that these French speaking regions share with one another. Featuring the music of Maine’s premier Franco fiddler Don Roy, Acadian singer Lucie Le Blanc Ouellette and Cajun singer Marce Lacouture of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, House Party will tour in Maine, New Hampshire and Louisiana in the summer and fall of 2008. Don Roy is one of the leading bearers of Franco-American dance music traditions in Maine. He learned the fiddle from his uncle, Lucien Mathieu, and went on to become Maine state fiddle champion. Founder and Director of the Maine French Fiddlers, Don Roy is a master teacher and fellowship winner of the Maine Arts Commission, teaching many younger musicians like Erica Brown. Lucie LeBlanc Ouellette, a talented singer from the St. John Valley, loves to play rock and country music. She grew up singing many of the traditional French songs of Acadian culture with her sister and mother. The Le Blanc family has always played music and sung together where their mixture of the traditional French songs and more recent French country-and-western are highly appreciated.
